Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of BookNestory, including our website, collection tracking tools, ISBN lookup features, Nest Charms, leaderboards, and related services. By creating an account or using BookNestory, you agree to these Terms.

1. Who may use BookNestory

You must be at least 13 years old to use BookNestory. If you use BookNestory on behalf of another person or organization, you confirm that you have authority to accept these Terms for them.

2. Accounts and security

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your password secure, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

3. Your collection content

You retain ownership of collection entries, notes, custom cover URLs, edition details, and other content you add to BookNestory. You grant BookNestory a limited license to store, process, display, and back up that content so we can operate and improve the service.

Do not upload or enter content that infringes someone else's rights, violates law, contains malicious code, or includes private information you do not have permission to store.

4. Public profile activity

If your account visibility is public, parts of your activity may appear in community areas, including collection counts, recently nested books, Nest Charm awards, leaderboard placement, display name, and similar public-facing features. Private notes are intended for your account only and are not shown in public community areas.

Collection sharing is a separate, optional feature. If you enable a public or unlisted collection link, signed-in BookNestory users can view books you include and edition notes you explicitly choose to share through that link. Private notes are never included. You can disable collection sharing or exclude individual books at any time.

5. Book metadata and third-party sources

BookNestory may retrieve book metadata, images, ISBN records, descriptions, authors, publication details, and related information from third-party sources. That information may be incomplete, delayed, inaccurate, or unavailable. You are responsible for reviewing and correcting your own collection records.

Third-party services and websites are governed by their own terms and policies. BookNestory is not responsible for third-party content, outages, changes, or data quality.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse BookNestory. For example, you may not:

• attempt to access another user's account or private information;
• interfere with, scrape, overload, reverse engineer, or disrupt the service;
• use BookNestory to store unlawful, harmful, abusive, or infringing content;
• circumvent security, rate limits, or access controls;
• use automated tools in a way that degrades service availability.

7. Nest Charms, leaderboards, and community features

Nest Charms, counts, rankings, and other community features are provided for fun and may change over time. We may adjust Nest Charm rules, remove Nest Charms, recalculate statistics, or correct leaderboard data if needed.

8. Paid features

BookNestory may offer paid features in the future. If paid features are introduced, pricing, billing terms, renewal rules, cancellation rights, and refund policies will be disclosed before you purchase them.

9. Service availability and changes

We may update, suspend, limit, or discontinue any part of BookNestory at any time. We try to keep the service available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access or error-free operation.

10. Termination

You may stop using BookNestory at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk for other users, or used the service unlawfully. When practical, we will provide notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue.

11. Disclaimers

BookNestory is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, BookNestory and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, or service interruption, even if we have been advised that such damages are possible.

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless BookNestory and its operators from claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising from your content, your use of the service, or your violation of these Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state where BookNestory is operated, without regard to conflict of law rules. Some jurisdictions may give you additional rights that cannot be waived by contract.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to notify users, such as posting an updated effective date or providing notice in the service. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
